According to religious books and prevailing belief heaven can be attained after death only.That is unknown world from which none has returned to substantiate the facts about  it.Sri Krishna said to Arjuna, "if you die in war, you will attain heaven, if you win than enjoy the pleasures on earth".Where is heaven? is it in some where in other planet or unknown place in cosmos.
Recent time many astronauts have gone in space.Man has landed on moon.Even preparing to land on Mars.Chandra telescope has been installed in space.Space station has been assembled in space and astronauts are staying there.But so far neither by telescope nor by cameras could find life on other planet.Even traces of vegitation could not be found.
In reality heaven and hell are not in cosmos, it is the state of happiness and sorrowfullness.Whatever  reality, it is in front of our eyes.That is truth.
About it Charvak said,"Happiness is heaven  and sorrowfullness is hell'.
In  VALMIKI RAMAYANA ,Brahmin JABALIK says to Lord Rama  that in actuality this visible earth is only planet having life, there is no other world having life,he also advises that one who shuns the fruits of this life and think of life after death is no wisemen..
Sankracharya in 'Sarvasidant sangrah'  also subscribes to this fact.
Jain Muni HARIBHADRASURI in SADDARSHANSAMUCHYA also srengthens this knowledge.
JOHN MILTON in PARADISE LOST writes,
'THE MIND IS IT'S OWN PLACE,AND IN ITSELF
CAN MAKE A HEAVEN OF HELL,A HELL OF HEAVEN.
Shall we strive to attain heaven to enjoy the company of beautiful APSARAS i.e.RAMBHA, URVASHI,MENKA,TILOTAMA etc.So long self continues to lust after worldy or heavenly pleasures sorrows are sure to enter in life.No mortification of any kind will also will not help.
To experience heaven one should shun ego and become lustless.
BUDDHA said,'Happy is he who has overcome all selfishness;happy is who has attained peace and happy is he who has found TRUTH.
